Vesper

What it is

Vesper is Jackson Boxer's restaurant on Exmouth Market, opened in May on a double-fronted corner site with about 70 seats, a bar and a terrace. The whitewashed room has a riveted steel horseshoe bar, bentwood chairs and paper tablecloths, bright by day and candlelit at night. The October dinner menu runs from a spring onion pancake with raw tuna and Cantabrian anchovy (£7) and salt and vinegar crisps with smoked onion and trout roe (£10) to raw Hereford beef with whipped sesame and Marmite crisp (£16), grilled Atlantic prawns with fenugreek and black lime butter (£21), chicken liver agnolotti with Madeira jus (£21) and grilled monkfish with girolles, coco beans and lobster cream (£33). Desserts include a brown butter tart with goat's milk and toffee (£12). Lunch runs Wednesday to Saturday and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, with bookings on SevenRooms.
