What it is

The Horses is the Public House Group's seafood pub, from the team behind The Pelican and The Hero. It occupies the old Coach and Horses on Ray Street, a pub site dating back to 1790 that later became Henry Harris's the Coach. There is a walk-in pub on the ground floor, a first-floor dining room with counter seats by a curved display of fresh fish, a second-floor counter by the open kitchen and a private room at the top. The menu runs from squid with chilli (£16) and onglet with shallot (£28) to crab (£32), lobster (£33) and Dover sole (£47), with a potato and Wigmore pie (£25) and a fish pie for sharing (£70); the pub downstairs serves pork pie with piccalilli. The group's executive chef is Doug Sims, and the dining rooms book on SevenRooms.
