What it is

Soraya is a Persian restaurant on George Street in Marylebone from Pachamama Group, the team behind Nina, Bottarga, Zephyr and Lagana. It is the group's largest London restaurant, with around 190 covers across a main room built around an open kitchen, a back room with round tables for six to eight, an L-shaped bar and two private dining rooms; reviewers describe it as loud, candlelit and celebratory. The menu runs from house sourdough flatbread (£5) and hummus with tahini, hazelnut and warm brown butter (£9) to olivieh salad (£11), koofteh masti meatballs in yoghurt and mint sauce, lamb shashlik, short rib khoresh and a mixed grill platter, with a crème brûlée cheesecake to finish. It opened to limited bookings before an official launch on 15 October.
