Mirtala
Rishad and Benaisha Mehta's Monterrey-style Mexican in Chiswick won Jay Rayner over in the FT with its guacamole, Mexican fried chicken and tacos.
Opened July 2026
What it is
Mirtala is a northern Mexican restaurant on Turnham Green Terrace, run by Rishad Mehta, who heads the kitchen, and Benaisha Mehta, who built the drinks list. It opened in July with 40 covers and six seats outside, in a room by Day Studio of walnut chairs, white linen, terracotta floors, olive leather benches and an oak-and-marble bar, hung with photographs of Rishad's grandmother. The cooking is rooted in Monterrey and Nuevo León: dips (£15), a Devon crab salpicón tostada (£15), an XL scallop in chipotle butter (£19), Mexican fried chicken with habanero cream (£19), camarones (£25), and barbacoa platters for two of Trenchmore wagyu beef rib (£44 a head) or pork carnitas (£36 a head). There is a feasting menu at £79 a head, and the cocktails include a nanche martini with mezcal.
